Okay so I’ve had this song stuck in my head for like a month, really, and I can’t for the life of me remember what it is, or who sings it, or anything about it, other than “are you hungry now, are you hungry boy.” Then finally the other day it occurs to me, and I feel so much better now.

Johnny Foreigner is an appropriate name here, since these guys are English. Here’s some cultural bias against English people that you can share! They hate the French. So much so that they say the word “garage” as if it wasn’t a French loanword. And what the hell is an “answer phone” anyway.

I love a guitar line that falls apart in a spectacular way, full of moments that are so ridiculous that I can’t help but bust up laughing. I think Shane Perlowin of Aleuchatistas may be my new favorite guitar guy. Today’s track is “Good Question” from the album The Same and The Other, and it’s full of that kind of stuff. Especially the “guitar solo” that makes up the song’s middle half. Enjoy.

The week between Christmas and New Years always seems like a week out-of-time to me. I get the feeling the year ends at Christmas, and a new year doesn’t start up until (duh) New Years day – so we get this weird extra week of who knows what smashed in here, and the funky work schedule only adds to the feeling. So I went out the other night to see a friend’s band play, ostensibly their final show. Anyways they had an opening act who was this girl who played the ukelele and apparently lives like 5 hours away. The poor girl, who’s in high school, had to play her music for like a grand total of 8 people, including herself and my friend’s band. My heart was breaking a little bit, but everyone seemed to have fun.

Anyways speaking of high schoolers, this song is by Be Your Own Pet, the members of which were in high school at the time this was recorded.

So I spent yesterday with a monster headache, and I still have it kind of. Although it’s pretty uncomfortable, that’s not why I call it a monster. It’s a monster because it has a Will that is set on some kind of world domination. It spreads! Three people at my office had huge headaches today, I expect by the end of next week the whole office will have it, and it’s only a short jump from there to the end of civilization as we know it.
